Tips for Planning the Best Fall Golf Vacation
Pair mild temperatures and convenient access to the Grand Strand’s premier courses, and you’ve got the perfect fall golf getaway. Convinced it’s time to tee up? We’ve compiled some tips for planning the best-ever fall golf vacation to North Myrtle Beach.
BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS:
One of the many reasons the Grand Strand became the golfing hotspot it is today is because of the “stay and play” packages that many accommodations offer. Even better, there is a variety of types of places you can stay, so you can find something that fits your group’s preferences. Looking for the privacy of your own room, but want to hang out together in common spaces? Book a beach house or condo. If you prefer to stay in a full-service hotel or motel, North Myrtle Beach offers several choices.
Once you’ve got that in mind, search for a place to stay by your location preference. Want to be steps away from the green? Consider a stay at Barefoot Resort, with easy access to four outstanding courses—appropriately called the Fantastic Four at Barefoot Golf Club—including the Norman, the Love, the Fazio and the Dye.
If being near the beach is more important to you, explore oceanfront options in one of North Myrtle Beach’s unique seaside neighborhoods, including Cherry Grove, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive, Shore Drive or Windy Hill.
SCHEDULE YOUR TEE TIMES:
Now that you have a “home base” booked (and perhaps a tee time or two as a part of a package), decide which of North Myrtle Beach’s world-class golf courses, you’d like to play. If you want to play like the best in the game, make a tee time at Beachwood Golf Club. This scenic course has been home to the Carolinas Open, the Carolina Senior PGA Championship and the Grand Strand Amateur.
Want to snap a photo or two that is sure to be the envy of all your followers on social media? Make an early tee time at Tidewater Golf Club. Throughout the course, savor the sights of the Atlantic Ocean and Cherry Grove Beach Inlet . . . especially the panoramic view from the tee box on the signature 13th hole.
Or, plan a day to visit Legends Golf Resort. Just down the road in Myrtle Beach, Legends is home to three challenging, picturesque courses within its Scottish-inspired facility. Because of the courses’ popularity, Legends Golf Resort recommends golfers book well in advance for the best available tee times, especially if you have a larger group.
PLAN YOUR DOWNTIME:
After a long day on the links, wind down at Putters Pub. Located at Barefoot Resort, this cozy bar has a great view of the Barefoot Driving Range and plenty of TVs, so you won’t have to miss your favorite college football game. Or check out Hickory Tavern, a popular watering hole that is ESPN’s only two-time finalist for “Best Sports Bar in North America.”
Make a reservation at Greg Norman Australian Grille. Owned and frequently visited by the international golf legend, this restaurant is a favorite for fine food and its spectacular view overlooking the waterway at the Barefoot Marina. After dinner, head around the corner to The Deck at the House of Blues. This charming outdoor patio area is spacious enough to accommodate groups of various sizes and often features live music from local and regional bands.
And sometimes after a long day on the greens it is nice to relax. For those nights, grab everything—and we mean everything—you need from Boulineau’s for a delicious dinner in your beach house or condo. You’ll find everything from fresh-caught seafood to hand-cut steaks, plus all the fixins. Enjoy the view from your porch and the company of your friends or family while you cook and dine at your own pace.
If you find you’ve left a club at home (or need an excuse to buy the latest model), go shopping at the PGA Tour Superstore on Highway 17. With trained specialists and teaching professionals at the store, you might leave with a few complimentary tips with your newly purchased gear.
And before your trip, be sure to download the official North Myrtle Beach app. With directions and other convenient information about attractions, entertainment and dining options in the area, the app is sure to make planning (and enjoying) your fall golf vacation a breeze!
