Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach

Ocean Drive is the heart of North Myrtle Beach. You'll find everything from sun and sand to shag music, and the historical OD Pavilion in Ocean Drive.

A whole lot of history

A lot of what you may know (or not know) about the history of North Myrtle Beach took place in Ocean Drive. In fact, Ocean Drive is still home to many famous landmarks that you can still visit and enjoy today.

In 1940’s, the Carolina Shag was born along Ocean Drive and was celebrated throughout the Grand Strand. The quick and smooth dance found its rhythm with classic “beach music” in popular clubs like Fat Harold’s. Fat Harold’s is still alive and swinging today. Visitors come to North Myrtle Beach from near and far to experience the shag alongside the locals, you can feel the spirit of the shag all throughout Ocean Drive!

Hoskins Restaurant is another historic landmark that still serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in its original location on Main Street! Hoskins first opened in 1948 and is considered a must-try by locals and visitors alike. The restaurant still has the same look, service, and classic southern flavors as they did back in 1948!

Music and More

Whether it’s a concert, festival, or parade, there is always something happening in Ocean Drive!

Music on Main is a summertime staple in the North Myrtle Beach community. The Music on Main concert series takes place every Thursday night starting in June and grooves through September. Grab your beach chair and join the community at the Main Street Horseshoe from 7 to 9 PM for a free, feel-good concert by the ocean! For a full line up of concerts, visit our Calendar of Events.

Main Street is also the backdrop for many of our major festivals and parades throughout the year. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, Irish Italian International Festival, and the North Myrtle Beach Christmas parade are all held in Ocean Drive. Thousands of festival goers travel every year to join the community in celebrating holiday festivities in North Myrtle Beach!
