WHERE TO PLAY:

Want to bring your dog on the beach? During the peak summer season, which is May 15 to September 15, dogs are only allowed on the beach before 9:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. Dogs can be in the surf only in designated areas from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lucky for those of us with furry friends, the weather in North Myrtle Beach is very enjoyable year-round. And for many of our longtime visitors, the time between late September and early May is North Myrtle Beach’s best-kept secret!

If your pup needs to run off the leash during your trip, head over to the Dirty Dawg Pet Wash Dog Park at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex! This fenced-in playground is just for dogs and features two separate areas, one for small breeds (under 25 pounds) and another for large breeds (25+ pounds). There are also several scenic parks within the North Myrtle Beach city limits that you and your dog can enjoy together.

WHERE TO EAT:

When trying to dine with your dog, you’ll probably be on the lookout for patio restaurants. Good news . . . there are several dog-friendly restaurants in the Grand Strand area.

Overlooking the scenic waterway, this casual establishment has an extensive menu that features a variety of fresh seafood as well as classic dishes like wings and burgers. Plan a visit during happy hour for a beautiful view of the sun fading over the waterway.  

If you’re searching for a fast-casual dining experience when you’ve got your dog in tow, look no further than BurgerFi. Serving up unique burgers, hot dogs, fries and shakes, everyone will find something they can enjoy. Not only is the outdoor seating area spacious, it’s covered and fenced in. The North Myrtle Beach location is at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 17, making it a perfect place to refuel after a long afternoon of fetch at the Waggin’ Tails Dog Park.

WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND:

Be mindful of the area’s local leash laws. In the City of North Myrtle Beach, the maximum leash length is seven feet. Help keep North Myrtle Beach beautiful and clean by picking up and properly disposing of pet waste. Please be mindful of any posted signs and rules that you see as it pertains to dogs.
