Barefoot Landing offers great shops, restaurants and music venues. But do you know what it has the most of? Alligators. Lots and lots of alligators.
Alligator Adventure is home to hundreds of alligators, crocodiles and other rare reptiles. Here, guests can get closer to these animals than they ever could (or would ever want to!) in the wild. The 15-acre Alligator Adventure calls itself the “Reptile Capital of the World.” With all of the unusual species you’ll find, like the rare albino alligator and aggressive saltwater crocs, that description seems pretty accurate!
Visitors can watch regular feedings and exciting shows, including an appearance by a 20-foot monster croc named Utan. The reptile display features sea turtles and snakes, including boas, pythons, rattlers and cobras. Alligator Adventure is home to many other animals, including birds, big cats, and lower primates such as sloths and lemurs. Its aviary exhibit is comprised of flamingos, eagles, hawks, owls and other birds of prey. A number of rare felines, including African servals, bobcats and lynx, call Alligator Adventure home. Kangaroos, warthogs, otters, and squirrel monkeys are also among the many other residents at this one-of-a-kind wildlife refuge.
Alligator Adventure, located adjacent to Barefoot Landing, is one of North Myrtle Beach’s top attractions. It is also just a short drive from Myrtle Beach. Tickets range from $14.99 for kids to $19.99 for adults, and the cost of admission includes a second day for free within one week of the initial visit. Alligator Adventure’s hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. You never know what you might experience on your next visit to Alligator Adventure, as they switch out their exhibits often enough to keep you coming back for more adventure!
