Beyond the well-known bars in North Myrtle Beach lies those locally loved treasures where the locals go. Along the beaches, Intracoastal Waterway, and bustling Main Street, NMB is full of hidden gems that welcome you and yours, whether you’re looking to try a local brew, watch a game, or learn the Shag.

Game For Anything

Go where the locals go and enjoy a good time any hour of the day at a sports bar.

Drive up in your car or Harley and head into Dagwoods Deli & Sports Bar on Kings Highway next to the Harley-Davidson Shop at the Beach. Dagwoods features indoor-outdoor seating and plenty of space at the bar. A Grand Strand staple for decades, come for the beer, cocktails, and food, from the cheesesteak sandwich to the famous burger, and stay for the game and fun-loving crowd.

Across Kings Highway is another long-time staple, Oscar’s Food and Spirits, where your favorite bar cuisine (think: pizza, wings, and burgers) pairs well with your favorite beer. Opened decades ago by a transplant from Pittsburgh, it’s a place where you can root for any team, though the Pittsburgh Steelers and Purdue Boilermakers reign supreme there.

Main Street Gems

Main Street is home to a few hidden gems – a taphouse, a winery, and a bakery with a sweet setup.

Discover your new favorite beer at Main Street Taphouse in the Shops on Main. The taphouse is a popular game-day hangout spot for Baltimore Ravens fans and any sports fans. The beer menu features a variety of IPAs, lagers, pilsners, ales, porters, sours, stouts, and ciders. If you get hungry, choose between several bar bites and handheld dishes, including flatbread pizzas and paninis.

Visit countless countries in one day and under one roof at Wine Therapy. The Main Street winery features over 40 wines from around the globe that will please any palate. During your visit, pair your wine with a charcuterie board and enjoy live music most weekend evenings. The wine cellar is updated weekly, and you can choose to sit inside at a table or bar or enjoy the outdoor patio seating area.

For a different kind of bar sure to attract sweet tooths, stop by Butter & Whisk, home to an ever-changing cookie bar with fun names and flavors like Pretty in Pink, a sugar cookie topped with pink buttercream. Besides cookies, the bakery offers cookie and cake jars.

Beachfront Vibes

Hang out at the beach with a beer in hand and the ocean in the background.

A favorite local beach hangout tucked along the Grand Strand is Coconuts Oceanfront Tiki Bar & Grill, where beach-themed cocktails, delicious sandwiches, and seafood appetizers await. Take in the beautiful ocean views from the patio deck. Another hidden gem along the beach is Molly Darcy’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. Dine beachfront as you enjoy delicious cold brews and Irish-South Carolina fusion with seafood and Irish entrées, including shepherd's pie.

If you’re looking for a place to dance the Shag, founded in North Myrtle Beach, hit the beachfront OD Arcade & Lounge. Take an occasional break from the dance floor to play billiards and munch on bar bites, beer,  and cocktails.

Keeping It Casual

Baggy shorts and a pair of flip-flops are just fine for a trip to Captain Archie’s off the Intracoastal Waterway. Dine on popular seafood platters and sip on signature cocktails as you watch boats pass by from your indoor or outdoor table. In Windy Hill, Rockefeller Raw Bar is known for its namesake oysters, and beyond that, seafood steam kettles. The tropical-themed eatery is a local fave where bartenders are constantly pouring beers or mixing cocktails.

Next time you find yourself in North Myrtle Beach, follow the locals and enjoy hidden gems with some of the most delicious food and drinks in town.
