Fishing Tournaments & Competitions

North Myrtle Beach is home to many saltwater fishing tournaments and competitions. Most fishing tournaments take place in the fall, with a few occurring in spring and summer. In addition to North Myrtle Beach, several tournaments take place along other areas of the Grand Strand that are just a short drive away.

Below is a list of the seasonal fishing competitions that typically take place in North Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach area. Registration fees, cash prizes and dates are subject to change, so please check each tournament’s website for complete details.

Cast off at the Cherry Grove Pier and catch the big one at the annual Spring King Mackerel Tournament in June.

Teams compete to catch the biggest King Mackerel during this annual fishing tournament in October.


Just to the south, you’ll find plenty of flounder biting at this annual tournament held at the end of April in Murrells Inlet.
