Oyster Season is Here!
Each September brings a feeling of relief and comfort to North Myrtle Beach. The summer heat is winding down and the anticipation of sports, festivals, and holidays are in the air. The weather is beautiful, and the water is still warm. To many locals and travelers, alike - it’s the most wonderful time of the year! But there’s one other element of the Fall that makes everyone excited - Oyster Season!
Oyster Season runs from September to April. A great way to remember this is that if the month has an “R” in its name - you’re going to find great oysters! Oysters are some of the most delicious treats from the sea and there’s almost limitless ways to prepare them. Here's some of our picks where you can best enjoy the season.
Boardwalk Billy's
Now this is a good time! Boardwalk Billy’s has everything you need to not only enjoy roasted oysters, but also oysters Rockefeller, fried oysters, oysters on the half-shell, and oyster po-boys. There’s live music every night and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. It’s also a favorite of locals!
Snooky's Oceanfront & Snooky's Waterfront
Snooky’s has two awesome locations, both on the water. Snooky’s Waterfront is located on the waterway in Little River and Snooky’s Oceanfront is in Cherry Grove - right on the ocean. Both provide the perfect backdrops to some phenomenal oysters and great times! Snooky’s offers char-grilled oysters, fried oysters, oysters on the half-shell, oyster po-boys, and even oyster shooters! Trust us - they are awesome!
Dirty Don's Oyster Bar & Grill
Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar & Grill has some of the best variety of oysters on the Grand Strand: Oyster Parmesan, Oyster Rockefeller, blackened oysters, fried oysters, and more! What’s very cool about Dirty Don’s is that it’s always oyster season, as they import the freshest oysters from Florida, Louisiana, and Texas when our local oysters are not in season. They also are involved in replanting and recycling our local oyster beds.
Rockefeller's Raw Bar
This North Myrtle Beach fixture has some of the freshest oysters around and features all of the oyster dishes you love. Locals love Rockefeller's Raw Bar and their deep-fried po-boy is fantastic!

Platt’s Seafood is the area’s oldest and largest seafood market. Not only can you get the absolute freshest seafood here, they will also cook it for you! If you are hosting an oyster roast or attending one and need to BYOO (bring your own oysters), Platt’s has got you covered. They also have a great lunch menu, which features an oyster sandwich that gives you the most bang for your buck! Quick and easy!
