Get ready for a shucking good time at the this years Oyster Roast for the Coast! On Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11 AM to 3 PM at Boardwalk Billy’s, this beloved local event is back for another year of celebrating coastal living while making a positive impact on our environment and community.
Hosted by Destination North Myrtle Beach and the North Myrtle Beach Chamber Foundation, the Oyster Roast for the Coast raises awareness of programs that enhance our coastal ecosystem. All oyster shells from the event will be recycled and planted in the marshes of Cherry Grove to help restore and strengthen the local ecosystem. Proceeds raised from the event go towards expanding local business promotion efforts, connecting visitors and local residents in the heart of North Myrtle Beach.

Why It Matters
Oyster shells from last year’s event were planted near Waites Island, where volunteers and SCDNR helped place 300 bags of recycled shells into the marsh. Each bag is expected to recruit roughly 450 new oysters, which adds up to more than 135,000 oysters over the next year to year and a half. As those oysters grow, they get to work fast, filtering about 2.5 gallons of water per oyster per hour. That’s roughly 400,000 gallons filtered every hour, or as much as 4 million gallons a day.
Beyond cleaner water, oyster reefs also make our shoreline more resilient by protecting spartina marsh grass from erosion and wave action. They also create a thriving underwater neighborhood, providing habitat for more than 100 different species.
By joining the Oyster Roast for the Coast, you’re not just enjoying great food and music, you’re investing in North Myrtle Beach’s future.
So, grab your shucking gloves, gather your friends and family, and join us for a celebration that’s as meaningful as it is fun. Let’s toast (and roast!) to the coast together.
