North Myrtle Beach is known for wide, uncrowded beaches, fresh air, delicious seafood, and family fun. But there’s a well-kept secret we bet your family would love to explore. Did you know you can stroll down a portion of that picturesque beach on horseback? That’s right—you can have a seaside ride straight from a tropical postcard, right here on the Grand Strand, when you visit Inlet Point Plantation on nearby Waites Island

Imagine exploring a barrier island on the Atlantic coast. It’s undeveloped and undisturbed, brimming with unique animal life and natural beauty. You can feel the ocean breeze as you ride horseback down the quiet shoreline. Dolphins bob in the ocean and birds fly in from the water. This relaxing paradise is Waites Island, one of our favorite places to reconnect with nature, and just a few minutes from the heart of North Myrtle Beach. Although horseback riding on the beach is not allowed during the summer months on the Grand Strand, Inlet Point Plantation’s location on the 1,380-acre sanctuary allows you to ride on the beach year-round.

Experienced guides offer instruction and lead guests on a series of scenic tours aboard the majestic steeds, ranging from smaller quarter horses to larger thoroughbreds. Riders mount up at the stables and depart for their excursion: the popular beach trail, the plantation tour, or a ride along the Intracoastal Waterway. Tours range in length, and they also offer a romantic sunset and moonrise tour, plus options for extended trips that gives guests more time to enjoy Waites Island.

If you’re coming to the beach to celebrate a special occasion for the kids, consider the youth birthday party package. It’s complete with room for decorations, food, plenty of games, and horse rides for the kids! Riders must be seven years of age.

Professional photo packages are also available to capture all the memories you’ll be making with your family.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic outing or a family-friendly activity, don’t miss out on one of North Myrtle Beach’s best-kept secrets—horseback riding on the beach! Inlet Point Plantation recommends making a reservation at least a week ahead, but as far in advance as possible to secure the time and date you prefer, as spots book up quickly during their busy seasons.
