National Trail Day
Trail Blazers are a group of volunteers with a specific purpose/project; to help clear a path for a future educational and interpretative trail within the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. A protected wetland termed a Carolina Bay is situated within the park property hosting a diverse ecological and wildlife environment. To protect the integrity of this natural treasure “hand” cutting is required to clear a path through the bay. Trail Blazers will meet periodically to clear a specific path with loppers, pruning shears, hedge shears, and pruning saws within the Carolina Bay. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, bottled water, equipment listed above, insect repellant, and wear protective gear (long pants, long sleeves, closed toed shoes, and snake proof boots in the summer months).
Open to all ages (if under 12 must be accompanied by adult)
National Trail Day falls on June 2, 2018. We are currently gauging community interest and evaluating project ideas. If you are interested in volunteering as a Trail Blazer, please call 843-280-5584.
