One of the best ways to explore the beauty of the Grand Strand is on a guided tour. From high-flying fun to scenic cruises on the waterway, North Myrtle has a tour and excursion for all ages. We’ve rounded up a few of the area’s top tours by air, water and land. Some are seasonal, so be sure to visit their website or call ahead to inquire about schedules and availability.

BY AIR:

Want a spectacular view of the area high above the Atlantic Ocean? Soar through the sky in a parasail. Numerous local companies like Aloha Watersports, Atlantic Watersports and New Wave Watersports offer parasailing adventures for one, two or three people.

We’ll also let you in on a little secret . . . you don’t have to be in the mountains to zip line! One of the most unique ways to experience North Myrtle Beach is on a Go Ape zip line tour. Located in the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, this attraction's Treetop Adventure is a two- to three-hour tour that includes suspended swings and ropes among the forest canopy. Another unique and exhilarating experience is neighboring Shark Wake Park, where wakeboarders are pulled by a high-tech pulley system instead of a boat. Open to all skill levels, this one-of-a-kind system is easy enough for beginners to learn on while allowing more experienced riders to grab major air on the ramps and jumps throughout the park.

BY WATER:

Because of its location between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, North Myrtle Beach is home to a network of beautiful inlets and creeks. Observe the area’s unique wildlife by paddling through these waterways on a SUP or kayak. Tours range from paddles down the Waccamaw River, around Waites Island, crabbing trips, or sunrise and sunset tours.

Kayak through North Myrtle Beach. Perhaps there's no better way to experience the Atlantic than by meeting some of its inhabitants. Plentiful, playful dolphins are always a hit with children and adults alike, and they're easy to spot aboard the dolphin cruises offered by Myrtle Beach Dolphin Cruises.

If you have little ones, book a tour on Carolina’s largest pirate ship, Blackbeard’s Pirate Cruise! This hour-long journey will turn your little mates into buccaneers fit to sail the high seas as the crew searches for Blackbeard’s treasure. This fun and interactive boat tour is full of costumes, festive games and family fun!

Adults can hop aboard a one-of-a-kind boat ride, the Big “M” Casino, South Carolina’s only gambling cruise ship. Gambling is not allowed in South Carolina, but once the ship sets sail and reaches three miles from the coast (exiting coastal state waters), the “gambling” sign lights up and the casino games— including blackjack, poker, craps, roulette and slot machines—can begin.

BY LAND:

North Myrtle Beach is home to nine miles of beautiful coastline, so make sure you save plenty of time on your vacation to stroll along the beach. Even if you’re not staying in oceanfront accommodations, it’s easy to access the beach via one of the many public beach access points

Few things in life are more exhilarating than trotting along the beach on horseback. Book a tour at Inlet Point Plantation, where you’ll ride through the sand and surf on undeveloped Waites Island. With a number of tour options, your group can enjoy a one-hour beach ride, your kids can try a pony ride, or you can book a more romantic option, like a sunset ride or private ride, for your someone special.

Ride horseback on the beach at North Myrtle Beach. Located at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, Myrtle Beach Segway allows visitors to glide around the complex and through adjacent woods. A training session is included as part of the tour, but note that riders must weigh at least 80 pounds and groups are limited to eight people.

With miles of flat roadway, North Myrtle Beach is also ideal for bike riding. Rental facilities offer plenty of cruisers, and a favorite circuit among locals is the 5-mile loop from the Barefoot Residents Club House along Club Course Drive, Barefoot Resort Bridge Road and Marsh Glen Drive. For a stiffer test, head over to The Hulk—also known as the Horry County Bike & Run Park—for a challenging boardwalk and dirt track.

After all that fun, you might want to take your taste buds on a tour. What better way than to visit a local winery or vineyard? Duplin Winery has an array of award-winning muscadine varietals, such as its Hatteras Red and Scuppernong labels. Tastings are available Monday through Saturday and they often have live music on the outdoor deck. A short drive north is La Belle Amie Vineyard, where guests can try samples of its private label wines and delicious food. La Belle Amie’s wine tastings are reasonably priced to include six different wines and you can keep the glass!
