Majestic and beautiful, exciting and adventurous. Horses bring an aura of excitement and adventure to any beach vacation. There are many ways to explore our beaches and set sights on our waterways, and one of them is on four hoofs.
Where to Horseback Ride on the Beach
Plan your next adventure at Inlet Point Plantation, North Myrtle Beach’s top spot for horseback riding. Locally owned by the Smith family, find guided horseback rides for all ages and levels of experience.
Horseback Riding Tours
Waites Island
Trot along the car-free Waites Island, where you can enjoy a peaceful one-hour beach ride in the morning, afternoon, or at sunset. During your excursion spot bald eagles, blue herons, loggerhead sea turtles, and bottlenose dolphins. The 1,000-plus acre island is home to a diverse ecosystem and was once home to the Waccamaw tribe, who left artifacts in their wake.
Waterway Trail
Explore the plantation's wooded trails on horseback along the Intracoastal Waterway. The one-hour ride is rich with history as the grounds were once the site of Fort Randall.
For the Little Ones
Little riders under seven are welcome too. Pony rides are available for cowgirls and cowboys (six years old or younger). Experienced guides will help lead kids through the plantation groves and riders can opt for a 15 or 30-minute ride.
Horse riders must be seven years old or older to enjoy a horseback tour. Open Mondays-Saturdays year-round, make a reservation ahead of time and at least two days' notice for sunset tours.
Plan a Special Occasion
Make your special occasion unforgettable with a private horseback ride from Inlet Point Plantation. Whether you're planning a proposal on scenic or celebrating a milestone, the team can help coordinate the perfect moment and capture it with photos. Call ahead to see how they can bring your vision to life, because in North Myrtle Beach, riding off into the sunset is truly possible.
