Neighborhoods

Inside every great city are neighborhoods where people live, work, and where travelers get to visit and call our seaside communities their home away from home. North Myrtle Beach (NMB) neighborhoods weave their way up and down the beach and are the fabric that makes this such a special place. Some offer great golf while others are teeming with seafood specialties. One offers peaceful seclusion and a restful stay while another has the energy of Main Street with music, food, and shopping. Each has its own character and you’ll love exploring each and every one of them.

Ocean Drive

The main drag through NMB is lined with great shopping, food, and fun. Ocean Drive is home to the Ocean Drive Shag Club inside Fat Harold’s Beach Club. Specializing in beach music, you can learn to Shag, a legendary dance made famous right here in NMB. Ocean Drive is also home to the Music On Main summer concert series where each week brings the best local talent out for free evening shows. The shopping on Main Street has a little bit of everything; from art galleries to specialty boutiques and cool consignment stores, you never know what you’ll find on Ocean Drive.

Crescent Beach

An outdoor sports complex, an Irish pub, and a conference center for meetings and gatherings help set Crescent Beach apart. The Bay Watch Resort & Conference Center caters to any size group from business meetings to weddings. Central Park has batting cages, baseball fields, tennis courts, and more. When you’re ready to eat you can chill at Fishtails Beach Bar, get some Italian at Midtown Bistro or celebrate the Irish at Molly Darcy’s. Places to stay include an inn with a swim-up bar to towering condos.

Atlantic Beach

Nestled between the Crescent Beach and Windy Hill communities you’ll find Atlantic Beach. Settled mainly by Gullah and Geechee people, these descendants of slaves set up their own community and made their mark on NMB and coastal South Carolina. While they do have robust growth, it is still a secluded spot where you can relax and live like a local.

Windy Hill

At the southern end of NMB are Windy Hill and some of the area’s top attractions. Barefoot Landing sits on the water and has incredible shopping, live music, and plenty of places to fill your stomach and quench your thirst. Duplin Winery crafts delicious fruity wine with fun names including Midnight Magnolia and Scuppernong. Breeze’s Beach Bar and Grill is a seasonal oceanfront bar where the views are as good as the drinks. Southern-style seafood is on hand at Preston’s Seafood and Country Buffet and Rockefellers Raw Bar.

Cherry Grove

Cherry Grove is a piece of paradise with a pier. The iconic pier juts out nearly 1,000 feet over the Atlantic and offers a perfect blend of relaxation and active vacation fun. The fishing here is legendary and if you left your tackle at home you can rent some. Seafood is the specialty on the menu at many of our locally-owned restaurants. From crab legs to clams, salmon to steam pots, you’ll find pescatarian perfection. Vacation rentals and beach homes make vacationing in Cherry Grove like a home away from home, while resorts and hotels offer options like on-site restaurants and gyms.
